Aqua Livi rose to prominence in the '80s with 'Urban Warrior', Reading's
first official roots reggae band. Urban Warrior performed their first gig at
The Studio One Club in Slough, and went on to tour national festivals like
Stonehenge, Glastonbury and Notting Hill Carnival. Europe and Japan followed
and Urban Warrior became the first international reggae band to tour Sudan in
North East Africa.
In 1995 Aqua's Band the 'Roots Dimension' underwent a name and personnel change. The band became the 'Roots Imansion' and they were joined by Scratchy (drums), Simeon (keyboards) & The Worries' guitarist Gilly. After 5 years on the road a 'stripped down' version of the band accompanied Aqua at WOMAD in 2000. With just Gilly & percussionist Yusef, Aqua gave a fabulous "unplugged" performance in the glorious sunshine!
After a 3 year hiatus, Aqua reformed the Roots Imansion and armed with some new songs started rehearsing for his big comeback...WOMAD 2003.
The current Roots Imansion line-up is:
Izzy-sax
Solo-percussion
Wendy & Ijeoma-backing vocals.
